About these terms
These terms apply to your use of theclientbase.co.nz and to any appraisal enquiry you submit through it. By using this website you accept them.
What this service is
The Client Base is a confidential service that helps New Zealand financial advisers explore selling all or part of a client base, and introduces sellers to buyers from our network where the seller asks us to.
This website is not a marketplace. Client bases are not listed publicly, buyers cannot register here, and no account is created when you make an enquiry.
Information is general, not advice
The valuation multiples, examples and other information on this website are general in nature and are provided for education. They are not financial advice, legal advice, accounting advice, tax advice or a valuation, and they do not take account of your circumstances.
Indicative ranges reflect our view of market conditions at the date shown. Actual pricing can vary materially. An indicative appraisal we give you is an opinion offered to help you understand your position — it is not a guarantee of a sale price, of buyer interest or of a transaction completing.
You should obtain your own legal, accounting and tax advice before entering into any transaction.
Fees
We do not charge sellers a brokerage, listing or success fee for using this service. You may still incur your own legal, accounting or other professional costs in connection with a transaction. Any fee arrangement we have with a buyer does not create a cost to you.
Confidentiality
We treat the information you give us as confidential. We do not release your identity or your business details to prospective buyers without your approval, and we do not advertise your client base publicly.
You are responsible for making sure that any information you send us can properly be disclosed to us — in particular, do not send client records or other confidential client information without considering your own privacy and regulatory obligations.
No obligation
Requesting an appraisal does not commit you to selling, does not put your business on the market, and does not create an exclusive or binding arrangement between us. Either of us can stop the conversation at any time.
Your responsibilities
Information you give us should be accurate to the best of your knowledge. An appraisal is only as good as the information it is based on.
You must not use this website to submit false enquiries, to attempt to obtain information about other advisers’ businesses, or in any way that interferes with its operation.
Liability
To the extent permitted by law, we are not liable for loss arising from reliance on general information on this website, including indicative valuation ranges. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have under the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993 or the Fair Trading Act 1986 where those Acts apply.
Changes
We may update these terms and the indicative information on this website from time to time. The version published here is the current one.
Governing law and contact
These terms are governed by New Zealand law. Questions can be sent to enquiries@theclientbase.co.nz.
